Department Introduction

• Medical Welfare Engineering is a medical engineering specializing in the rehabilitation and welfare of the physically weak, such as the disabled and the elderly. Our country is on the way of welfare development, where the proportion of welfare is increasing day by day. Unfortunately, as it is predicted that national productivity will decline due to the reality of population decline, the improvement of social activities such as the disabled is also required to compensate.
  In this situation, the demand for technology that discovers the capabilities of the disabled and maximizes them safely is leading medical welfare engineering into a new influential industry.
  As Segway did and can be seen in the example of a robotic assistant (wearable robot), the science for the physically weak eventually expands and becomes a science for everyone. This department, which leads the future-oriented medical welfare engineering, is the only department in Korea that can acquire the medical engineering-related qualifications of the Ministry of Employment and Labor based on the two national qualifications of the Ministry of Health and Welfare (will/assist technician, assistant engineer). Convergence-type talents who are interested in the health care field can be active in this field.

• Cultivating the literacy of majors suitable for the level of nationally accredited qualifications such as prosthesis and assistive technicians, assistant engineers, medical engineers, medical device license experts, etc.

• Hospital or rehabilitation center's prosthesis/assistant department: National Rehabilitation Center, National Veterans Hospital, Severance, Labor Welfare Corporation Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center, etc.
• Assistive device center of hospital or rehabilitation center: Central assistive device center of National Rehabilitation Center and regional assistive device center such as regional rehabilitation hospital.
